This film was born from a particularly odd event that occurred to me in early 2022. While home alone, I decided to "neaten up" the area by my front door by assembling all of the misplaced pairs of shoes on the floor onto a shoe rack when I found that one pair - which I swore was not there before and had never seen prior - happened to lie right behind me. Instantly, I knew that such an event could serve as a suitable genesis for a short film, and thus was how 'Above the Staircase' came to be.

 

This film concerns my life-long notion that what one does not see is far scarier than what one actually sees on the screen as the imagination takes hold.
